Chicken Soup For the Soul

I'm just going to come right out and say it. I'm simply going to tell the truth. (Deep breath.) Like People Magazine, which I swear I only read in the obstetrician's waiting room, the Chicken Soup for the Soul series is one of my guilty literary pleasures.

I usually run across the books when I'm on vacation, and I figure, much like the desserts I have scarfed down at various oceanside resorts through the years, the intellectual calories of a hundred or so heartfelt, tear-inducing essays don't count when you're hanging out on a beach somewhere with a tiny umbrella in your drink. Am I right? Of course I am. Besides, what girl couldn't use a good cry every now and then? And if you need a good, ovary-cleansing sob, there's nothing better than just about any copy of Chicken Soup for the Soul.

So this week, in honor of reaching my third and final hormone-laden trimester, I'm giving away three titles:

- Chicken Soup for the Soul: Moms & Sons
- Chicken Soup for the Soul: Like Mother, Like Daughter
- Chicken Soup for the Soul: Moms Know Best

Drop me a comment or, if you're shy, send me an email, and let me know which book you want. At the end of this week, I'll draw three names and make sure the kind people at Chicken Soup for the Soul send you the book of your choice.

Admit it. You can't wait.

Like Mother, Like Daughter sends chills down my spine.....Am I really going to turn into HER? God help us all. NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

If you send me this book, you could save my life. Do you want THAT hanging over your head?

You need a "one entry per person" disclaimer, otherwise I might leave you 43 comments to up my chances at a free book.

Consider this entry #1. I need another book I don't have time to read! And you know I love a good cry...

when I was first single, I read Chicken Soup for the Single Soul and damned if I didn't bawl my head off. There is just usually something so touching and inspirational in those stories. Since I have one of each flavor - which one doesn't matter to me. Although, I am struggling with the girl child lately. Damn hormones!

PS - forgot to post on your other blog but glad your back and without the yellow snot! :D

if cathy leaved 43 comments, then I'm leaving 44 :) I bet you can guess which one this mom of 3 boys would love...

Hmmm, I think as a mom of 2 boys I will have to go with the mom & boys book.

I'm going to go with "moms know best" because we do, don't we??? :) Yay for the possibility of free stuff!

The Chicken Soup books have long been my own guilty pleasure. I have found solace, smiles and tears in each of them I've read. Would love to have a copy of Mom and boys!

Being the daughter of a mother who has two daughters and having two daughters myself (let's just say there's a LOT of estrogen around here, 'kay?), I would obviously need a copy of Like Mother, Like Daughter.

Here's hoping it helps.

I'm with you on these books!

I'd love the Moms & Sons, but so would all the other commenters, so I'll leave 45 comments and ask for the Like Mother, Like Daughter book instead.
'kay?

This is where I admit to never reading one of these books (you can slap my wrist later). I have always heard wonderful things about them though, and lord knows I could use the Like Mother, Like Daughter.

Hmmm... My brain hurts to much to make a choice, so any of the 3 would do. They would all work for me.

I have never read any of the Chicken Soup books and I have been meaning to for years!

moms and sons sounds good to me. It'd be kinda silly to get the daughters one since I have no daughters and my stepdaughters are 1000 miles away from me.

I'm vegetarian.

But if you have a copy of Soul Food for the Chicken lying around, I'll take it.

I'd love to read about Like Mother, Like Daughter, even though the thought of my daughter being like me scares the bejeezus out of me.
