Suburban Obsessions #26

Hey! You made it! Once again, thanks for rolling over here to check out the product reviews. As I mentioned over on Missives, the kind and stunningly attractive* folks at Parent Bloggers Network have graciously offered to let me check out My Fruit Roll-Ups for free. They're going to let you do the same, so once you're done reading, go back to the giveaway post on Missives, leave me a comment, and at the end of this week, I'll pick a winner** at random, and they'll receive their very own case of My Fruit Roll-Ups.

First, I have to say how much I like the idea of personalized anything. Especially when you have a child who's going through a bit of a "mine, mine, mine" stage. Sometimes he's right, and things really are his, and personalization makes those moments easy to identify. Anyway, personalizing cool treats like Fruit Roll-Ups makes for fun party favors, and with The Ambassador's second birthday just around the corner, making My Fruit Roll-Ups would be a great gift for goodie bags.

My order of My Fruit Roll-Ups won't actually arrive at my house for another couple weeks, so I can't give you any kind of a review on the final product until then, but the design process itself is generally a breeze. You arrive at their homepage and are immediately greeted into the Invention Center.

It's an easy-to-use interface that lets you pick the message and picture you want to use on your My Fruit Roll-Ups. It's so simple that even I could use it, and I suspect a four-year-old would whiz right through it. You can order your design immediately or save it for later. You can pick from a variety of themes, including sports, animals, and licensed characters. There are hundreds of options, so set aside a little time to go through them or find the nearest four-year-old. We chose a "Look Who's 2" design for The Ambassador:

The process only takes about five or 10 minutes, and the finished product looks pretty cool. A box of My Fruit Roll-Ups contains 30 individual Roll-Ups, so they make a great favor for birthdays, graduation, holidays and presidential primaries. Right now, the site is featuring a special for $8 off a box, but if you head back over to Missives right now, you can drop me a comment and win a free box of your very own.

In the mean time, I'll wait patiently by my mailbox for my order to arrive, and when they get here, I'll let you know how they look. More important, I'll let you know if they pass The Ambassador's taste test. He currently favors another brand, so we'll do a side-by-side, blindfolded taste test. Ever blindfolded a 22-month-old? Should be fun.

By the way, let me just say that writing product reviews is a lot easier at night, when your kiddo is asleep and not screaming for new markers and wanting to wear his sunglasses inside (which, of course, only you can put on him correctly). Next time, I promise the link from Missives will go live and it will actually lead to a post over here at Obsessions. Still working out the kinks, people.

*I've never seen them in person, but I'm sure they're lovely.

**Just a not-so-subtle reminder that winners only reside in the U.S. I mean, you have to be a U.S. resident to be a winner. I mean... Oh, you know what I mean.
